Main Features and Advantages
- Multi-Rail Backplane Powering: Delivers 5.1V, 1.2V, 3.3V, and 24V DC simultaneously, supporting mixed-voltage modules.
- Built-In Circuit Protection: Includes non-replaceable fused overcurrent protection (max 15A), overvoltage, and thermal shutdown.
- Redundancy Capable: Can be paired with an identical unit via a 1756-CPR cable for seamless failover during outages.
Application Field
The 1756-PA72/B is a foundational component in large-scale industrial automation systems requiring reliable control power. It is widely deployed in automotive manufacturing assembly lines, continuous process control in oil and gas refineries, and high-speed packaging machinery where consistent backplane voltage is critical for deterministic control.
Related Products

Installation and Maintenance
Before installation, verify the AC line voltage matches requirements and set the 120/240V jumper accordingly. Slide the 1756-PA72/B into the chassis’s far-left slot, secure it with mounting screws, and connect L1, L2, and PE ground using 14 AWG copper wire torqued to 0.8 N·m. For maintenance, monitor the front-panel LEDs—green indicates normal operation, while red signifies a fault such as overload or overheating. If the LED fails to illuminate, check input voltage and wiring integrity before replacing the unit.
