The Emerson SPMC2402 is a controlled input rectifier module within the Control Techniques Unidrive SPM modular drive system, belonging to the 400V voltage class. As a core front-end component of the SPM power module family, the Emerson SPMC2402 employs a dual-stage half-controlled thyristor bridge topology to rectify three-phase AC power into a regulated DC bus voltage, supplying downstream SPMD inverter modules or multiple smaller drives sharing a common DC bus. Compared with the uncontrolled rectifier module SPMU, the core value of the Emerson SPMC2402 lies in the word “controlled”: the thyristor bridge can actively regulate the DC bus voltage and features built-in soft start, eliminating the need for external charging resistors and contactors during power-up and avoiding impact on the grid and bus capacitors.

Within the Unidrive SPM system architecture, the Emerson SPMC2402 serves as the power circuit front-end. Its AC-side rated current reaches 677A and DC link current is 758A, a current level indicating that its positioning is not for small single-drive applications but rather for high-power systems with multiple drives sharing a DC bus, or as the rectifier front-end for high-power single-drive configurations . The module itself requires an external 24V/3A DC control power supply to operate, a detail easily overlooked during selection and on-site commissioning. The Emerson SPMC2402 is a discontinued legacy product, currently circulating primarily through refurbished and surplus channels; for facilities still operating Unidrive SPM systems, it is a critical spare part for maintaining the existing drive architecture.
