Description
Application Scenarios
In an automated automotive assembly line, the control system for a robotic palletizing cell began experiencing intermittent faults. Critical signals from photoelectric sensors detecting package presence were sporadically dropping out, causing the robot to miss pickups and halt the line. Diagnostics revealed that voltage transients from nearby high-power solenoids were coupling into the sensor wiring, causing the existing input modules to register false readings. The engineering team upgraded the I/O station with the ABB YPI105C YT204001-BK digital input modules. The superior noise immunity and built-in filtering of the YPI105C modules completely eliminated the false triggers. The cell’s uptime increased from 92% to over 99.5%, virtually eliminating production stoppages caused by signal integrity issues. This case highlights the module’s critical role in ensuring deterministic and reliable machine control, where every binary signal is essential for seamless automation.
