Gentle starting that protects the whole drivetrain: The Allen-Bradley 150-A135NBDB-A ramps motor voltage from an adjustable initial torque of 5 to 90 percent of locked-rotor torque over a 2 to 30 second ramp, or holds inrush to between 50 and 500 percent of full-load amperes in current-limit mode. A 500 percent kickstart pulse lasting 0.4 to 2 seconds is available to break high-inertia loads free. The practical effect is that belts stop slipping, gearboxes stop hammering, couplings last longer, and upstream breakers stop nuisance-tripping on start.Pump control built into the base unit: This is the B-option variant, so the Allen-Bradley 150-A135NBDB-A ships with the pump control algorithm already resident. Stretching the stop ramp across 2 to 120 seconds lets the motor decelerate gradually, which is the standard remedy for water hammer in long discharge mains — the pressure transient responsible for burst pipework, damaged valve seats and destroyed pump seals. No external timer, no add-on card, no extra panel space.Electronic motor protection: An on-board microcomputer continuously supervises both the motor and the supply, tripping on start fault, stalled motor, over-temperature and line fault, the last of which covers phase loss, an open motor lead and a shorted SCR. Combined with dv/dt protection through an RC snubber network, this turns what would otherwise be a simple starter into a genuine protective device.Straightforward commissioning and diagnostics: Adjustments are made with DIP switches and rotary digital switches on the control module, so no programming software or handheld terminal is required. Energy saver and stall detection are individually selectable, and the auxiliary contacts can be configured for normal or up-to-speed indication. Front-panel LEDs report control voltage, starting, running and fault states, with a dedicated FAULT LED plus individual condition LEDs that tell maintenance staff immediately what went wrong rather than leaving them to guess.
