Description
Application Scenarios
In a large water treatment facility, a critical inlet flow transmitter is located over 500 meters from the central control room. The weak 4-20mA signal from the transmitter attenuates and becomes susceptible to interference over this distance, causing erratic readings in the DCS. This unreliable measurement jeopardizes accurate chemical dosing and process control. The plant engineers install an ABB XV371A module in a junction box near the transmitter. The module receives the vulnerable field signal, conditions it, and provides a clean, boosted, and isolated 4-20mA output. The result is a rock-solid signal delivered to the DCS input card, ensuring precise and reliable flow control. This simple addition of the ABB XV371A solves a persistent control problem, enhances process stability, and protects expensive DCS hardware from potential damage caused by ground faults on the long field cable.
