Description
Application Scenarios
In a copper rod rolling mill, a large ACS 1000 drive controls the main roll motor. Precise speed regulation is non-negotiable for maintaining product thickness and quality. A high-resolution pulse encoder mounted on the motor shaft provides real-time speed feedback. However, the encoder’s raw signal is vulnerable to electrical noise from the powerful drive’s switching IGBTs and is incompatible with the drive’s control board’s input circuitry. This is where the ABB YPG111A 3ASD273001B1 module proves indispensable. Installed in the drive cabinet, it receives the delicate encoder pulses. Its internal circuitry filters out noise, amplifies the signal, and provides full galvanic isolation. It then outputs a clean, square-wave signal that the drive’s control system can reliably interpret for precise speed loop calculation. Without this module, the feedback would be unstable, causing erratic motor speed, poor product quality, and potential drive faults due to signal loss.
