The Allen-Bradley 1734-IK​ is a single-channel incremental encoder and counter interface module from Rockwell Automation, belonging to the Bulletin 1734 POINT I/O distributed I/O family. It is engineered to capture high-speed pulse trains from 24V DC incremental encoders, pulse generators, and mechanical limit switches, and to deliver a clean 24-bit count or frequency value directly to a Logix controller over the POINTBus backplane.Unlike a conventional digital input card that depends on the controller scan to catch edges, the 1734-IK​ performs quadrature decoding, filtering, and accumulation inside the module itself using a dedicated counter ASIC and on-board microprocessor.
